Located in northern and central Alberta, Highway 43 connects Edmonton to Whitecourt, Valleyview and Grande Prairie on the British Columbia border. On average, Highway 43 sees about 27,000 vehicles per day.

Hazards Along the Route

Icy road conditions and low visibility are frequently reported along the route resulting in a high volume of collisions. Between 2005-2014, the stretch of highway between Debolt to Valleyview was tied for fourth most dangerous in the province and there were 16 fatal collisions east of Grande Prairie.
