It goes without saying that the past few weeks have been challenging for everyone. Alberta has been hit with a double whammy of a global pandemic and a serious economic downturn. We know that this has put added pressure, strain, and stress on our members. It will be some time before we navigate even close to normal. Until then, we would like to remind our members to please keep focused on the road.
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of accidents, so if you find yourself feeling stressed, angry, or sad behind the wheel, take a moment to acknowledge those feelings. Know that how you’re feeling is okay – you’re certainly not alone. You can also try some of these strategies to help you focus on driving:
- Pull over (if you’re already driving)
- Take deep breaths
- Turn off the news and turn on some calming/enjoyable music
- Remember, that message or email can wait, put down your phone
We will get through these challenging times. More than ever we want to remind our members to stay safe.
